Tellers on the Mountain

Tellers on the Mountain exists to preserve, celebrate, cultivate, and promote storytelling traditions rooted in the African diaspora within Appalachia while fostering cultural exchange among storytellers.

The Organization seeks to:

• Preserve Black Appalachian oral traditions.

• Support storytellers through education, mentorship, and performance opportunities.

• Produce festivals, concerts, workshops, residencies, and educational programming.

• Document and archive stories for future generations.

• Promote storytelling as a tool for community engagement, cultural preservation, healing, and social justice.

• Build partnerships with schools, libraries, museums, cultural organizations, and community groups.
