This program is for those working to maintain African American cemeteries of the 5 Rivers Region of East Tennessee; Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson & Sevier Counties.
We loan out full tombstone cleaning kits with D2 biological solution at no charge with a variety of brushes, spray bottles & scrapers.
How It Works
If interested in borrowing these tools, two weeks in advance, send an email to info[at]blackinappalachia.org with the following information:

Your Full Name, Address, Email & Cell Number

The Name & Location of Cemetery

Date(s) of Cleaning
-
Any Associated Non-profit, Church or Community Group
After that, you'll receive a reply email confirming your pick-up date.
On the day of pick-up, the person who made the reservation will retrieve their kit at the Black in Appalachia Field Office, 8004 E Andrew Johnson Hwy, Whitesburg, TN 37891.

Upon arrival, there will be a brief tombstone cleaning orientation &
a $50 deposit held (Cash, Venmo, Paypal or Card),
which will be returned to you when the kit is returned to us.
